Sales & Use Tax Specialist

Will only consider applicants from Ft Lauderdale, Oakland Park and Tampa, FloridaOutdoor Network is currently seeking a Sales and Use Tax Specialist for the finance department.
In this role, you will ensure the monthly/quarterly filings are completed in a timely manner and ensure the company is compliant with various tax codes and regulations at the state and local levels.
Candidate should be familiar with federal and multi-state taxation.

Duties and Responsibilities Prepare and file state and local use tax returns to ensure compliance with applicable laws.
Coordinate sales and use tax payments to ensure timely payment.
Respond to internal questions regarding taxability of company products and services, tax exemptions, etc.
Research and resolve internal use tax matters.
Assist with tax audits to provide auditors with appropriate information and to assist in completion of their tasks.
Reconcile sales tax payable accounts.
Assist with the implementation of returns outsourcing.
Maintain current knowledge of sales and use tax laws, rules, and regulations to help the company stay in compliance and leverage any opportunities for cost savings.
Review current processes and recommend changes as needed to improve results and lower costs.

Required Skills and Qualifications Extensive knowledge of accounting methods, tax law, and audits Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Acute attention to detail Strong written and oral communication skills Proficiency with relevant accounting software Basic knowledge of accounting principles and accounts payable function, as well as the ability to prepare journal entries and accounts payable postings Ability to reconcile general ledger accounts.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, computer literate Ability to conduct research to find various state laws and forms as needed.
Bachelors' degree in accounting, finance, or related field Minimum of 3 years relevant experience preferred.
Strong decision-making skills and ability to multi-task.
Candidate should demonstrate a strong attention to detail and the ability to work and make decisions independently.
Ability to multi-task and prioritize deliverables.
Ability to operate within a team effectively and efficiently, or as an individual contributor.
Internally driven to understand business demands.
Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field Proven track record as a tax specialist or analyst Legal or accounting background CPA certification Experience managing extensive volumes of paperwork and accounting for a corporation or large organization.
